When Your Regular Beauty Routine is Failing You
You may be using the best and most expensive beauty products and one month on, you are yet to find improvements still. The worst part is you gave pricey products a chance, something that you haven’t done before. You assumed that the best products are also the costliest ones, and so you decided to switch from drugstore to branded beauty products. You wait a few more months, and you still got the skin problems that you’ve been looking into treating three months ago.
What happened here? Why do some products work, and some don’t? Why is the effect different on people, in that what works for you may not work for your sister?
K-beauty skin care products are no stranger to this phenomenon, with products having different effects on different people. But the good thing about Korean beauty products is that there is a wide range of options to choose from, depending on your skin tone, texture, and type. There are also in-store and online options for you to try out samples before purchasing the product. This service is excellent for all customers, especially for cosmetics fans who have been following Korean beauty trends.
But no matter how well-reviewed the products you are using are, why is your regular beauty routine failing you? Here are some of the most common reasons as to why your beauty routine just doesn’t work for you:
You haven’t been using the products long enough
It takes three months for a beauty product to give out a noticeable effect, and so if you have used the product for a week, you must not expect anything just yet. The problem with most customers is they expect too much from a product too soon, and in turn, they get frustrated easily. You must be diligent in following the prescribed beauty routine for three months, and then you decide if it works for you or not.
Beauty routines usually have a plateau phase
After three months, you will see the maximum results of the products you are using. If they are working for you, then you can expect a vibrant and younger looking skin after this period. However, after these three months, there will be a plateau period for these products. You may find that they are not working any longer, or you are getting the same old skin problems that you have had before. When this plateau stage happens, it is a must for you to switch products so your skin will get that ‘kick’ again to respond to the new products. This plateauing is the reason why more beauty products are being introduced every year.
You are using too many products
Using too many products is not a good thing, because you may be counteracting the effects of the beauty products you are putting on your skin. It is best to stick to just one product for every stage of your routine: one for cleansing, one for toning, one for treatment (which is optional), one for moisturizing, and one as a leave-on (usually a face mask). Do not use two cleansers when they are doing the same job anyway. If anything, you can try one cleanser, then the next one once you’ve plateaued.
Your regular beauty routine may be failing you because you are doing any or all these mistakes: you are using too many products, you have reached your plateau phase, and you haven’t been using your products long enough. Your beauty routine should be your best friend, and so if you are not happy with the effects of the products you are using, try countering these mistakes or better yet, consult a beauty expert. You may be using the wrong products for your skin type all along.
